The product’s journey: from print management to being received by the customer

As we often say: brand consistency is really important. From the initial sketch to the final product being received by the customer, every detail counts. In our view, print management plays an important role in this!

But what exactly does the product’s journey involve? We explain it to you step by step in this blog!

What is print management?

Let’s go back to basics for a moment. Print management is the process of coordinating and managing all aspects of printing (such as leaflets, flyers, premiums, POS materials, textiles, etc.), from design to distribution. This not only includes printing the product or selecting the right materials and suppliers, but also ensuring consistency and quality throughout this journey.

For marketing and procurement managers, print management is often the solution to managing print materials efficiently and effectively.

Step 1 – Intake and briefing

Everything starts with a clear briefing. Here, it is important to listen carefully to the customer’s wishes and goals. During this phase, all the information is gathered, such as product type, design concept, desired materials, budget and deadlines. This is this phase when the foundation is created for the rest of the product’s journey.

Step 2 – Design and development

After the briefing, a creative team gets to work. They present various design proposals which look great and are functional, and which obviously perfectly reflect the customer’s brand identity. This process involves several stages, during which sketches and digital designs are produced. There is constant attention to customer feedback and the design is adjusted accordingly.

Step 3 – Optional: Sample and assessment

At the customer’s request, a physical sample of the chosen material (without printing) can be delivered. This gives the customer a better idea of the material and helps them make their final choices.

Step 4 – Production and logistics

EMP works with high-quality partners who produce to ISO standards to guarantee quality. We carefully monitor production progress to ensure timely delivery. After production, the products are carefully packed to prevent damage during transport.

Step 5 - Distribution and delivery

The last step in a product’s journey is perhaps the most crucial: distribution and delivery. The products are delivered to the customer or directly to the consumer. To guarantee customer satisfaction, it is essential that delivery takes place punctually and according to the agreed deadline.

After delivery, there is always contact with the customer. We can then be sure that everything has gone well, and any problems can be addressed immediately.
